AT&T users can reach 911 in JP after national outage ends

METAIRIE, La. -- AT&T cell phone users can reach 911 in Jefferson parish again after a brief outage disabled them from making emergency calls.

According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, the outage has been fixed and callers can reach emergency call centers nationwide.

A national outage prevented AT&T mobile phone users in some areas from reaching 911 call centers, Jefferson Parish was one of thos areas. JPSO officials announced the outage and released an alternate number for users to call in case of emergency.

The problem was resolved around 9:45 p.m. locally.
