JPFD suspect lightning sparked two-alarm fire in Old Metairie

METAIRIE, La. – Firefighters are investigating a two-alarm blaze that damaged a building in Old Metairie.

Fire officials said they suspect lightning started the fire.

Authorities said the initial call about the fire came in at 11:25 a.m., and it was under control as 12:05 p.m.

Eighteen condos sustained either smoke, fire or water damage.

There were no injuries reported, but one JPSO deputy on the scene was treated for smoke inhalation.
