NEW ORLEANS – People from across the country are talking Tuesday after Jefferson Parish President Mike Yenni refused to step down from his position.
Yenni is embroiled in a sexting scandal that has been going on for about two weeks, after he admitted to sending explicit texts to a young man who was 17-years-old two years ago.
On the CBS daytime show “The Talk”, Julie Chen went over the details of the allegations and asked the audience and other hosts if Yenni should resign.
The audience resoundingly said yes, but host Sharon Osbourne suggested that he shouldn’t step down, instead offering that he should come to terms with his sexuality as a person.
The outlet also spoke to Jefferson Parish Coroner Gerry Cvitanovich, who along with other parish leaders, called for Yenni’s resignation.
The New York Daily News also wrote an article Monday night, a few hours after Yenni spoke to the media, firm in his position that he would not resign.
Telemundo, a Spanish-language channel, featured the story on its website, asking viewers their opinion.
People Magazine also featured a story Tuesday evening in the 'Crime' section of its website, saying by all accounts, Yenni was a rising star in state politics until the scandal.
