JPSO makes arrest in River Ridge killing

METAIRIE, La. – A man suspected in a fatal shooting Wednesday afternoon in River Ridge was found fewer than 24 hours later hiding in a Metairie motel, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Shecorey Young, 20, of River Ridge, was booked on one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Authorities found him Thursday morning at a motel in the 2400 block of Clearview Parkway.

Young is accused of gunning down Jeffery Johnson, 34, and wounding a 16-year-old boy during the shooting in the 300 block of Bengal Road. A 35-year-old man was at the scene when the shooting started, but he was not injured, the Sheriff’s Office said.
