Kenner police chase ends in N.O. with suspect flipping SUV

A police chase that started in Kenner ended miles away in Gert Town Tuesday morning, with the driver crashing into another car and flipping his SUV before being taken into police custody.

According to Kenner Police, the arrested man's Ford SUV had been recently repossessed. He had made financial arrangements to take back the car and had contacted the repossession company on 23rd Street in Kenner sometime before Tuesday morning.

At the same time, the repossession company said it had discovered a package of marijuana inside the SUV and called Kenner Police.  Lt. Brian McGregor, a Kenner Police spokesman, said there was believed to be between one and two pounds of marijuana inside.

As Kenner police showed up on Tuesday as part of the drug investigation, they said the driver sped off, leading them on a chase that traveled onto Interstate 10, then onto Tulane Avenue.

The driver continued to speed through Mid-City and Broadmoor. At one point, he hit another woman's car and then flipped his own SUV over near S. Jefferson Davis Pkwy. and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.  He was immediately arrested by Kenner Police.

No word on what charges he will face.  He has not been identified.
