HOUMA, La. (AP) — The Terrebonne Parish Council will conduct a public hearing Wednesday on a proposed ordinance that would place criminal sanctions on anyone who brings weapons or dangerous items into the courthouse.
Officials tell the Courier (http://bit.ly/Ia9Nez ) that the proposal would prohibit any person besides law enforcement from bringing these items into the courthouse. If convicted, a violator would face a $500 fine, 30 days in jail or both.
The hearing is set for 6:30 p.m. in the Government Tower, in Houma.
