Officials are still working to determine the cause of an apartment fire that killed two residents of Grand Isle Wednesday night.
Firefighters found Willow Creek Apartments, 2727 La. 1, burning when they arrived about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. The blaze claimed the lives of Timothy Foret, 46, and Belle Christin Brandl, 60.
Officials with the state Fire Marshal's Office said they had not made a conclusion on the cause of the fire and expect the investigation to stretch into next week.
“There is no suspicious circumstances noted at this point, but we are pursuing all angles in this case,” said Deputy Chief Brant Thompson of the state Fire Marshal's Office.
Thompson stressed investigators wanted to come to as complete a conclusion as possible before commenting on the cause.
Brandl and Foret were in separate apartments when the fire broke out. All other occupants were able to get out of the building safely, Grand Isle Fire Chief Aubrey Chaisson said.
