Man and pregnant woman caught in car with drugs, small child inside

RACELAND, La. -- A couple is behind bars after deputies said they were found in possession of drug paraphernalia while a child sat in the vehicle.

Garrett Sheets, 32, and Kendra Morris, 28, were arrested Sept. 14. Morris is about four months pregnant, authorities said.

Members of the Lafourche Parish Drug Task force were parked just outside of the pharmacy and saw a woman return to a vehicle. They said shortly after, Sheets tossed something to the ground.

Deputies said when they went to talk to the man about littering, they saw Sheets with a spoon and syringes in his hand. Agents told him not to move but said he tried to hide the paraphernalia.

When agents took him from the vehicle, they said they noticed a clear plastic bag with a white substance on the floor. Agents said they also found a bag from the pharmacy in the vehicle with 18 syringes that Morris just purchased.

Agents also saw a child in the vehicle and then learned Morris was pregnant.

Sheets and Morris were booked on various drug charges. Sheets was also found to have 13 active warrants in Terrebonne Parish for not appearing in court for a myriad of other charges.
