NEW ORLEANS – A man who was shot Monday morning crashed the car he was driving through the fence of a Dreux Avenue daycare, New Orleans Police said.
The 21-year-old man was taken to a local hospital where he later died. No children, however, were injured as they weren't outside at the time of the crash.
The shooting occurred near the intersection of Filmore Avenue and Eads Street. The man was driving his maroon Mercury Sable when police say possibly two unknown assailants opened fire, striking the man.
Monday's murder was the fourth since midnight Saturday and marked the 90th murder in the city this year, seven more than at this point in 2011.
