NEW ORLEANS - Firefighters battled a two-alarm fire in the Bywater on Saturday afternoon.
The New Orleans Fire Department responded to the fire around 1:40 p.m. in the 1000 block of Pauline Street and found a one-story shotgun style duplex with fire coming from the back of it. The fire department says due to the intensity of the fire a second-alarm was requested minutes later.
The fire caused the roof to partially collapse, according to NOFD. Firefighters were able to keep the fire contained to the home, however the stability of the structure became a concern.
The fire department says no one was home at the time of the fire.
New Orleans EMS, the New Orleans Police Department and Entergy assisted with the incident. The fire department says 19 NOFD units carrying 56 fire personnel responded to the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. There are no reports of injuries at this time.
