Two St. Tammany doctors have thrown their hats in the ring to lead the Coroner’s Office until a special election is held.
Dr. Robert Muller and Dr. Adrian Talbot submitted their resumes to the Parish Council on Friday, according to Council Administrator Don Henderson. As of lunchtime Monday, no other applications had come in.
Muller, a gynecologist who practices in Slidell, says he’s interested in running for the full-time position, but submitted his resume to the council for the interim position, in case the council decides to allow the interim to run for the position later. As of last week, the council was still looking into whether it was legal for someone holding an interim position could run for the office. Talbot, who also practices in Slidell, says he is not interested in running for the position, but just wants to help.
The council has 20 days to choose an interim Coroner. They are taking applications from St. Tammany physicians through next Monday.
