TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. – A single vehicle crash near the town of Fluker fatally killed a woman not wearing her seat belt Thursday evening, authorities said.
Michelle Cooper of Tangipahoa was traveling east at the intersection of LA 10 and U.S. 51 when she failed to stop and ran into a ditch with the front end of her vehicle, Louisiana State Police Officer Nick Manale said.
Cooper was not wearing a seat belt in her 2002 Toyota Tundra, and the parish coroner’s office pronounced the 53-year-old dead at the scene.
Police are investigating the crash and did not suspect driver impairment as they awaited toxicology exam results, police said.
