INDEPENDENCE, La. - A Tangipahoa Parish seafood processing company and an Illinois seafood distributor are charged for mislabeling and selling shrimp for over a year.

The Worldwide Shrimp Company was sending Mexican-caught shrimp to the Doran Sea-Pak Processing Company in Independence.

Shrimp would be packaged there and labeled as U.S. shrimp and sent back to be sold under brand names, such as Shrimp King, Texas Supreme, Black Diamond and Campeche Queen.

If convicted, each company faces a maximum fine of $500,000.
