INDEPENDENCE, La. -- A 28-year-old woman was killed from injuries she received in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday on LA 442 in Tangipahoa Parish, according to State Police spokesman Trooper Nick Manale.
Around 6 p.m., police responded to a crash on LA 442, two and half miles west of Interstate 55, according to Manale.
Glavis Garcia, of Independence, was driving west on the highway, when she drifted off the highway to the right. "As Garcia attempted to reenter the roadway, she overcorrected to the left and then back to the right causing the pickup to rotate clockwise and overturn several times. Garcia was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle," said Manale.
Garcia was pronounced dead on the scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner's Office, said Manale.
The front seat passenger, Juan Hernandez, 26, and an infant passenger were properly restrained in the pickup and received minor injuries in the crash, according to Manale.
Alcohol use is unknown, pending the results of a toxicology exam, according to Manale.
