Ex-husband sought by Hammond police for shooting wife in head in front yard

HAMMOND, LA – Tangipahoa Parish Sherriff's Office is searching for the 53-year-old ex-husband of a woman who was fatally shot early Sunday morning in Hammond. 

According to TPSO, a 911 call came in around 8:45 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 23) from a resident on Artie Road who reporting hearing gunshots and seeing a body lying in the front yard of a neighbor's home.

When deputies arrived, 50-year-old Linda Williams was found lying in her front yard and suffering a gunshot wound. She was shot one time in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Witnesses told police Williams' ex-husband Jerry Williams Jr. was seen leaving the house in a red Mustang, but the car was later found, according to police.
