Pair of EF-1 tornadoes hit St. Tammany

COVINGTON - Two EF-1 tornadoes were confirmed in St. Tammany Parish Monday morning as a severe line of storms swept through the area.

The tornadoes appeared to do mostly minor damage, according to a report from the National Weather Service, which had trees and fences down, minor to moderate roof damage in both cases. No injuries were reported.

The first tornado was reported in Madisonville near Oak Park Drive. That tornado moved across Autumn Creek subdivision, with top winds of 100 miles per hour. That tornado was on the ground for about 1.25 miles.

The second tornado was reported in Covington along Lee Road, then tracked to the east across Stafford before lifting - 1.75 miles later - near the intersection of Smith Road and Old Military Road. Top winds on that storm were said to be 100 miles per hour.
