Sheriff: Man dead, woman critical in northshore shooting

PONCHATOULA - A woman is in critical condition after Tangipahoa Parish deputies said her husband likely shot her in the head before turning the gun on himself early Friday morning.

The incident occurred on East I-55 Service Road in Ponchatoula.

According to Sheriff Daniel Edwards, around 9:15 a.m., a 21-year-old woman discovered the bodies of her parents on the floor in the master bedroom.

After a 911 call, responding units found 41-year-old Jamey Edwards Moore dead on the scene and 42-year-old Crystal Hope Moore suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

Emergency medical personnel were working on Ms. Moore and she was quickly transported to North Oaks Medical Center in critical condition.

Deputies continue to investigate the incident.
