A woman from Florida died and two Louisiana National Guardsmen were injured in a three-car crash on I-10 in Slidell.
According to Louisiana State Police, the crash occurred around 8 p.m. on Oct. 21 when 51-year-old Cheryl Billiot, from Pensacola, Fla., merged into the left lane on I-10 Eastbound and crashed into the back of a National Guard Humvee, which was part of a convoy of military vehicles and equipment.
The impact pushed one humvee into another, according to State Police.
Billiot was pronounced dead on the scene.
Two National Guardsmen received moderate injuries and were taken to Slidell Memorial Hospital for treatment.
State Police do not believe impairment was a factor in the crash, though routine toxicology tests are pending.
