NEW ORLEANS, La. - Emmy-winning actress Camryn Manheim was the highlight of the 42nd annual "Greasing of the Poles" this year.
Manheim joined three members of the female carnival group the Pussyfooters to compete in the contest that officially kicks off carnival for the Royal Sonesta Hotel.
She was voted the winner by the judges and in the "People's Choice" category.
Upon her victory Manheim proclaimed to the crowd "I've greased a lot of poles but never like the one on Bourbon Street!"
Celebrity judges included New Orleans Saints Punter Thomas Morstead, City Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer and Chef John Folse.
Locals and tourists packed Bourbon Street to see the competition including Switzerland native Urs Vom Feltem who has been coming to watch the event for 13 years.
"In 13 years I've made so many friends down here it's like a class reunion," Vom Feltem said.
The king and queen of Zulu and the New Orleans Saintsations were also there to get the crowd cheering.
