NEW ORLEANS - Work crews returned to the site of a water main break in the Carrollton-area.
Sewerage and Water Board officials warned that some people may have low or no water service once again when work began at 9 a.m. on Thursday.
Once work began, some residents saw their pressure fall. By 11:30 a.m., the pipe repair was finished and water was slowly restored.
Residents who live near the break were without water until around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday while crews worked to fix the broken water main that burst early Tuesday morning. Officials said the clamp they used in the repair did not fit correctly, which led to the long outage.
Thursday's service did not last as long as Wednesday's outage, S&WB officials said.
The burst led to a boil water advisory for a large part of Uptown until Wednesday afternoon.
Crews created a significant size hole in 7800 block of Cohn Street as they attempted to fix the broken 30-inch water main located there. The pipe is five to 10 feet below street level.
