City officials are celebrating the opening of Costco's first store in Louisiana, built in the Carrollton neighborhood.
At 5:00 p.m. Friday, Mayor Mitch Landrieu and other city officials will cut the ribbon at the new warehouse store, built on the former site of the Carrollton Shopping Center.
It cost Costco $45 million to build the store according to the city, and the retailer is expected to generate a $21 million fiscal impact to the city over the next 10 years.
In addition, the City of New Orleans announced that the traffic configuration has shifted at the intersection of Dublin and Dixon streets, near the site of the new Costco Wholesale retail warehouse on South Carrollton Avenue. The new traffic signals at this intersection are now functional.
Citizens should be mindful of the altered traffic conditions and use caution when driving, bicycling, or walking near the site.
The store officially opens to the public Saturday morning.
