NEW ORLEANS - An announcement is expected Wednesday about FEMA's effort to recoup improper disaster assistance payments.

Under a provision in the year end federal spending bill, FEMA can now waive a debt owed to the U.S. for a person who makes less than $90,000 and was given assistance from FEMA by mistake.

The provision was added by Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu and Mark Pryor, who represents Arkansas.

Around noon, Landrieu and Pryor are set to give an update this situation.
