NEW ORLEANS - Several Lakeview residents in the area of the 6800 block of Louis XIV Street will be without water for most of the day after an early morning water main break.

The water is shut off between Filmore and Robert E. Lee and is expected to remain off until near the end of the work day.

Neighbors told Mike Hoss that their street is in horrible condition and floods whenever there is a hard rain. On Thursday, at least one car took on some water.

The break came in a 16-inch line and neighbors said they noticed the leak earlier in the week.

"One of my neighbors called two weeks ago to report it and nothing was done," said Jill Miester. "The frustration level is pretty great. We've paid a lot of money to come back and rebuild and we can't get any cooperation from the city to help with our streets."
