NEW ORLEANS - On Tuesday, Jim Letten will officially step down as U.S. attorney after more than a decade in office and an investigation into the online postings of his top prosecutors.

The interim U.S. attorney is Dana Boente, the first assistant U.S. attorney from the Eastern District of Virginia.

"Because of the mechanics of it, I'm going to be available to speak to him, but I'm pretty much not going to be physically on site or engaged with department," Letten said.

However, Letten said he would be on call for as long as necessary.

Letten is mulling over options for the next opportunities in his life.
