NEW ORLEANS - A criminal court jury convicted a drug suspect who killed a young woman while trying to escape from police in a stolen car.
Edward Augustine, 22, was arrested in January of 2011 after a police chase that ended when he crashed into Mariah Woods, 18, killing her.
Police found dozens of hits of heroin in the car Augustine was driving, which was reported stolen.
As a habitual offender, Augustine could face up to 160 years in prison.
Sentencing is set for June 18.
