NEW ORLEANS – A man dressed in woman’s wig and carrying a handbag attempted to rob a motel and successfully robbed a gas station in Gentilly on Tuesday, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
Around 4:20 p.m., the suspect approached the front desk clerk and pretended to be a customer at Motel 6 at 4200 Old Gentilly Blvd.
He then brandished a black and silver handgun and demanded money from the clerk, police said.
The clerk raised his hands, turned away from the suspect and ran down the hallway, according to the NOPD.
No money was relinquished and the suspect fled westbound on Old Gentilly Boulevard and then unknown.
Around 4:50 p.m., he walked into a gas station at 3032 Elysian Fields Ave. and approached the cashier and demanded money while brandishing the same handgun, police said.
The cashier gave the suspect about $677 and the suspect fled southbound on Elysian Fields and then unknown.
The suspect is described as a 5’0” to 5’8” African-American with a brown complexion, weighing about 150 to 155 pounds with a medium build. He was wearing a pair of dark blue jeans, a dark blue short-sleeve t-shirt with a grey long sleeve t-shirt underneath it, a pair of black sunglasses and a white baseball cap with a black Air Jordan silhouette on the front. He was wearing a woman’s brown wig and carrying a woman’s black cotton handbag with two straps and unknown white writing on the front.
