NEW ORLEANS - A grand jury has handed up an indictment in a high-profile murder case that made headlines across the city last year.
On Thursday a Walter Porter, 36, was charged with one count of second degree murder for the killing of Curtis Matthews, 61.
Matthews was the brother of a key witness in the murder trial that sent the notorious New Orleans felon Telly Hankton to jail for life.
Police believe the killing that happened outside the "Jazz Daiquiris Lounge" on South Claiborne on Oct. 15 was in retaliation.
Porter is held on a $3 million bond.
