NEW ORLEANS – A man was shot to death after he threatened another man with a pistol in the Lafitte neighborhood, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

Around 9 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of North Galvez and Conti Street, a 25-year-old man was involved in a civil dispute over a vehicle with a friend of a 28-year-old, police said.

The 28-year-old brandished a pistol and threatened the business owned by the 25-year-old.

The 25-year-old feared for his life, produced a handgun and fired multiple shots at the 28-year-old, police said.

The 28-year-old was hit by bullets multiple times and was transported to the hospital where he later died, according to the NOPD.

The case is under investigation and no charges have been filed.
