NEW ORLEANS - The mother of a two-year-old boy found playing alone on a playground in New Orleans was charged with child desertion on Thursday.
Sherry Lee, 39, admitted leaving the child in the park Tuesday morning unsupervised and never attempted to locate the child, police said.
After Lee saw her child on TV Wednesday, she arrived at the Eigth District Station to claim him.
She was transported to the Child Abuse Unit where she was arrested.
The child remains in state custody.
A good Samaritan found the child playing by himself near Frenchman and Royal streets Tuesday morning. The person would like to remain anonymous.
