NEW ORLEANS – A motorcyclist was killed after getting into an accident in New Orleans East on Sunday, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
The incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. at the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Lonely Oak Drive.
The motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Chef Menteur Highway when he stuck a Nissan Murano that was attempting to turn left onto Lonely Oak Drive from the eastbound lanes of Chef Menteur Highway.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.
No charges have been filed pending an investigation into the crash and the results of blood and alcohol tests, according to the NOPD.
The Orleans Parish Coroner will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, police said.
