NEW ORLEANS - The U.S. Justice Department officially signed off on a redistricting plan for the city of New Orleans.

In a letter, Attorney General Eric Holder and the department's civil rights division informed the city council that they have no objection to the plan that would redraw the five council districts to take account of the 2010 census.
