The New Orleans Fire Department is currently investigating a 2-alarm fire at the intersection of Hamburg and Lafreniere Streets in the St. Bernard neighborhood.
It happened just after 3:00 a.m. Monday the 1500 block Lafreniere Street, and NOFD says that just after 4:00 a.m., the fire was completely under control by members of the fire department.
Fire officials tell WWL-TV that the first alarm was called in about 3:37 a.m. and then a second alarm at 3:49 a.m. Monday.
In all 12 fire vehicles and 35 New Orleans Fire Department personnel responded to the fire.
According to officials, the fire took place at a bar called TJ's Island, and that the establishment was unoccupied at the time of the fire. They also say they are unable to get in touch with the owners of the building.
NOFD says the building was completely engulfed by flames when they arrived and that currently about three-quarters of the roof has collapsed. There were no injuries reported.
Fire Department personnel will remain on the scene to continue to put out hot spots and their investigation into what caused the fire will be ongoing.
