NEW ORLEANS – Police are searching for an inmate that escaped from the “Temporary Housing Center” (also known as tents) between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, according to the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Larry Ard, 53, a 5’11” African American, was in custody for purse snatching and a parole violation.

Ard entered the pipe chase and cut the exterior of the tent between 11 p.m. and 12 a.m., deputies said.

OPSO suspects he injured himself while scaled the armed razor wire fence into the construction site.

He was present during the evening roll call on August 15 and was discovered missing during a security check around 12:30 p.m., deputies said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 504-827-8505.
