NEW ORLEANS - Since hurricane season began local officials have been stressing preparation.

On Wednesday, Sheriff Marlin Gusman and other law enforcement officials will discuss what the sheriff's office plans to do with the inmates in the event of a storm.

Officials will cover the procedure for booking individuals who are arrested during and after an ordered evacuation.

Gusman will also talk about the location of an Alternate Detention Center.

Finally, the sheriff is expected to discuss how their office plans to work along with neighboring sheriff's offices, the Department of Public Safety and Corrections and the Louisiana Sheriffs' Association.

The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office has several support vehicles that are used during emergencies.

They are in possession of a mobile communications and booking bus so that the office can continue to function during an evacuation. OPSO boats and a mobile kitchen from the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office are also part of this plan.

Gusman will go over his evacuation plan at 11 a.m. at the OPSO on South Broad Street.
