NEW ORLEANS - Health care is something New Orleans East residents have demanded since Hurricane Katrina.
A new facility was given the green light to set up shop on Read Boulevard.
The Orleans Parish Hospital Service District A and the Daughters of Charity Services of New Orleans reached an agreement Monday to build a 15,000 square foot primary care facility on the land of the old Methodist Hospital site.
Construction is expected to start this summer and to be completed in the fall of 2013.
In the meantime, a temporary facility will begin providing primary care services within the next two months.
