NEW ORLEANS - Young activists are trying to raise awareness for alternative energy.

The Louisiana Bucket Brigade joined the group for a bike-tour of local businesses that are moving the city forward when it comes to renewable energy sources.

The Ride for the Future aims to promote ways to shift away from using fossil fuels with a 1,000 mile bike ride from New Orleans to ExxonMobil's headquarters in Dallas.

"We're hoping to push fossil fuel companies to invest in cleaner energy so they can create more sustainable jobs," said Sarah Sims of the Better Future Project.

"These are young people who are committed to shifting away from fossil fuels to cleaner energy...moving forward with solar and wind energy," said Anne Rolfes of the Louisiana Bucket Brigade.

The group plans to stop in other oil industry communities along the way, and hopes to arrive in Dallas by the end of July.
