NEW ORLEANS – Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect in two carjacking incidents that took place in the Marigny neighborhood on Saturday, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

Derrin Riley, 18, and three other unknown suspects are wanted in relation to the crimes that occurred in the 800 block of Clouet Street and the 400 block of Marigny Street, police said.

Around 8:30 p.m., two women, one of which was pregnant, and a three-year-old arrived at their parked car on Marigny Street. One of the women got situated in the car with the toddler, while the driver loaded up the car with their belongings, according to the NOPD.

Then, two black men approached them, according to the women. One of the men pointed a shiny, black firearm at the driver and demanded that she give up her watch and vehicle. The other suspect approached the woman on the passenger side and demanded that she give up her watch and exit the car. Both women’s purses and other belongings were inside the Jeep.

The victims pleaded with the men to let them take the three-year-old out of the car, and the suspects complied before driving off.

Police brought the victims to the Eighth District station, where they described the suspects to a sketch artist. Two computer composite sketches were created.

On the same day, another victim was robbed and carjacked on Clouet Street. Riley was identified as one of the suspects in the incident, police said.

Both stolen vehicles were located and were processed for evidence, police said.

Riley has been previously arrested for illegal carrying of a weapon and resisting a police officer. An arrest warrant was issued for two counts of armed robbery.
