NOPD video shows car with body inside set on fire

The NOPD's Homicide Division has obtained new surveillance video of a suspect believed to be responsible for the murder of 23-year-old Louis Perrette on September 14, 2016, in the 8700 block of Morrison Road.

NEW ORLEANS – The NOPD Homicide Division has obtained and released a surveillance video that shows a man setting fire to a car, which was later discovered to have a dead body inside.

The incident occurred on September 14 in the 8700 block of Morrison Road.

Around 5 p.m., officers responded to the call of a vehicle fire in a grassy area near a canal on Morrison Road. The fire department responded and put out the fire, at which time the body of 23-year-old Louis Perrette was found inside. It was later determined that Perrette had a gunshot wound to the head.

The video shows a man lifting the hatchback of a vehicle and hang around the back of the car, before a fire starts and the man runs away. Police believe the suspect may have suffered an injury himself.
