Shooting in Gentilly Terrace claims 26-year-old

NEW ORLEANS -- Police are investigating a homicide Monday night in the Gentilly Terrace neighborhood that claimed the life of a 26-year-old man.

Around 8 p.m., NOPD Third District officers were called to the 2400 block of Dreux Avenue to follow up on a report of an aggravated battery by shooting. When officers arrived, they found a 26-year-old who had been shot in the chest. The man was taken to the hospital where he later died.

This investigation is on-going. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Officer will release the name of the victim and the official cause of death.

No further information is available at this time.
