KENNER, La. -- Kenner Police arrested a former officer for allegedly stealing money from Hispanic men he arrested.
According to the Kenner Police Department, 32-year-old Jan Michael Gregory stole wallets and money from five Hispanic men he'd pulled over for driving without a license.
Detectives found a gym bag in Gregory's police car containing two wallets that were eventually linked to two Hispanic men that Gregory had arrested according to KPD. Through further investigation, detectives found three more Hispanic men who were arrested by Gregory between Dec. 19, 2016 and Feb. 5, 2017. All five victims reported a similar pattern of conduct from Gregory during their arrests in which money and wallets were stolen.
When Gregory was confronted by members of the Internal Affairs Division on Feb. 22, he immediately resigned.
Kenner Police and the US Marshal's Gulf Coast Regional Task Force arrested Gergory at his home on March 10. He will be charged with five counts of malfeasance in officer, two counts of felony theft and three counts of misdemeanor theft.
