Plaquemines Parish

President Amos Cormier has declared a state of emergency for Plaquemines Parish in response to the threat of Tropical Storm Cindy.   As winds shift to the south, tides will begin rising along bayous and bays mainly west of the Mississippi River.

According to the National Weather Service 1-3 feet of storm surge inundation with isolated areas possibly seeing up to 4 feet of inundation is expected.The inundation levels should peak during the high tide cycles today and Thursday.

In response to the sustained rainfall, pump stations throughout the parish are fully staffed around the clock to protect our citizens and their property. The Ferries in in Belle Chasse and Pointe-a-la-Hache will continue to operate.  Parish crews will continue providing regular services to the public.
