Sheriff's Office visits wounded deputy at Houston rehab facility

NEW ORLEANS -- Nick Tullier's fellow law enforcement officers made the trip to Houston this weekend to support the wounded officer in his recovery.

Tullier, an East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Deputy wounded in the ambush shooting that killed three of his fellow officers, is undergoing rehab at The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research in Houston.

Sheriff Sid Gautreaux, Sgt. Bruce Simmons and others traveled to Houston Friday to cheer on Tullier in his recovery, according to a post on the Sheriff's Office's Facebook page.

The Sheriff is also supporting a 5k and fun run to help support Tullier and other wounded deputies in their recovery.

James Tullier, Cpl. Nick Tullier's father, continues to update the public on his son's recovery through the Nick Tullier Strong Facebook page.

James Tullier said that Nick is "still going strong" and all prayers are needed and appreciated.
