NEW ORLEANS - A man found slumped over and unresponsive in a vehicle Monday morning in the Upper 9th Ward is believed to be Justin Pohlmann, the son of St. Bernard Parish Sheriff James Pohlmann, according to sources.
Officers found a syringe in his possession, and EMS pronounced the him dead at the scene. The Orleans Parish Coroner will investigate and determine the cause of death. He was found in the 2500 block Piety Street, according to the sources.
Justin Pohlmann, who is believed to be 31, had an ongoing addiction problem, acknowledged by his father, when he was arrested for burglary in 2013 in St. Bernard Parish.
Steve Cannizaro, a Sheriff's Office spokesman, declined to comment Monday, saying only that the sheriff was with family and would not immediately comment on the matter.
