METAIRIE, La. - Christmas may be over, but the post holiday shopping season isn't.

In fact, Wednesday is all about the after Christmas sales at which retailers are expected to offer deep discounts.

It's also a big day for people returning and exchanging gifts or clothes.

Retailers are hoping to get back on track following a slower than expected holiday shopping season.

Some stores are opening earlier than normal in order to attract customers. Target, Wal-Mart and Best Buy open at 7 a.m. RadioShack and some Sears locations are opening early.

Many stores tried reach out to shoppers on Christmas Day with online sales.

December 26 is also a popular day for returns. Customers should be prepared to wait in line, and retailers remind shoppers to bring their receipts.

Shoppers are advised to make sure that if they exchange a gift, make sure it is of the same value as the returned merchandise.
