NEW SARPY, La. -- St. Charles Parish sheriff's Capt. Pat Yoes says two New Sarpy men have turned themselves in and been booked with arson in a fire that gutted a church down the street from their homes Monday night.
He says 37-year-old Mark A. Bailey and 60-year-old Jerry Cotton were held in lieu of $150,000 bond each after turning themselves in on Wednesday.
Authorities have said the fire apparently started when thieves used a blowtorch and tried to remove metal siding from a storage trailer behind the River of Life Christian Church.
Yoes says both men were booked with simple arson and simple burglary of a religious building.
