MANDEVILLE, La. -- Former Mandeville Mayor Eddie Price appeared in court Monday on the Northshore to face state perjury charges.

Price's attorney is trying to convince a judge that statements made under oath in the trial of Northshore businessman Gary Copp were not relevant and should not be the basis of the charge.

Price pleaded guilty to federal mail fraud and tax evasion charges. Prosecutors said more charges are on the way on the state level.

"It's something we've certainly looked at.  We are continuing to look at,” said Assistant State Attorney General David Caldwell. “We've had conversations with the U.S. attorney’s office and the F-B-I regarding this case and I think now it's going to be our turn on the financial situation."

More court action for the state charges is scheduled for Nov. 22.
