JEFFERSON, La. -- Facing a federal investigation, Jefferson Parish Chief Administrative Officer Tim Whitmer turned in his resignation Wednesday.

Parish President Aaron Broussard confirmed that his administration and the parish council did receive federal subpeonas to turn over information.

“The parish is to deliver all contracts the parish had concerning employee health insurance plans including the agreement with West Jefferson Hospital," Broussard said.

Broussard said they have until Dec. 9 to hand over those documents.

The investigation involves a connection between a parish health insurance deal and a company owned by Whitmer

Whitmer officially steps down in February. Broussard said he'll name a replacement before Feb. 1.

I wonder what and how much of our assets he will get before that February departure date? Why don't he leave immediately?
