Gunshots ring out during deadly shooting in Lower Ninth Ward, neighbor says

NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting early Wednesday in the Lower Ninth Ward. According to police, one man was found lying in the sidewalk and suffering multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

NEW ORLEANS -- Police are investigating a fatal shooting early Wednesday morning in the Lower Ninth Ward. 

According to New Orleans Police Department, officers were called out to the scene of a shooting around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday. When officers arrived, one man was found lying on the sidewalk near Marais and Andry streets. 

Police said the man was shot multiple times and was pronounced at the scene. 

WWLTV spoke to a neighbor who wished to remain anonymous and said they were awoken by the sound of gunshots. The neighbor said they heard 11 shots ring out around 3:15 a.m.
