NEW ORLEANS -- U.S. District Court Judge Helen Ginger Berrigan has granted a delay in sentencing for former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin.

Nagin, who was convicted in February on 20 counts including bribery, fraud, money laundering and conspiracy, was scheduled to be sentenced on June 11. The date has been pushed back to July 2.

The government opposed delaying Nagin's sentencing, but Judge Berrigan granted delay with no explanation.

On Tuesday, Berrigan issued an order that Nagin forfeit more than $501,000 as a result of his conviction on bribery and other charges.
