Taylor Swift just made a local Cincinnati girl's dreams come true late Thursday night.
Meghan is the 18-year-old daughter of Cincinnati Police Sgt. Daniel Hils, the president of Fraternal Order of Police Local 69.
Throughout her life, Meghan has had five open-heart surgeries, battling a congenital heart defect known as pulmonary atresia, with extensive travel to California.
In the FOP #69 Facebook group on Sept. 5, Hils said a full life is the wish a father fights for when he has a sick kid.
"But, I have learned that a full life is not measured by time, rather by love of life and making the most of the time we have," he said.
Given her sickness and often inability to be out and about, Meghan grew to adore pop culture and the stars of stage and screen, Hils said.
When she was four, the family applied for a Make-a-Wish, an organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses, where Meghan met Loonette the Clown from the PBS Show, "The Big Comfy Couch."
"As a teen, Meghan joked that we messed up, because there was always a new heartthrob she wanted to meet and she could no longer even remember meeting with Loonette," he said.
After turning 18 last March, Meghan qualified for the Dream Foundation, which grants wishes for terminally ill adults.
One of those wishes? A phone call or video chat with Taylor Swift, the pop star, whose latest album "1989" sold more than 5 million copies in the U.S. by the end of 2015.
But Meghan, Hils said, reasoned that Swift was too popular, so she requested a video chat with Ellen DeGeneres or Jimmy Fallon.
Hils said in the last few weeks, Meghan's condition has worsened, making even leaving the house more difficult.
"Time can't be saved in a bottle, but sometimes words can make wishes come true," Hils said, invoking Jim Croce and imploring the members of the Facebook group to share the post.
And they did. Over 2,500 times, as of Thursday night.
Hils said someone working with Swift called him Thursday and told him to get ready for Swift to call.
While the conversation Swift and Meghan had is private, Hils did say Meghan was thrilled.
"Her greatest dream came true," he said. "Her favorite pop star."
According to Meghan's Twitter, they chatted for nearly 30 minutes.
